The first EWAS (En route Weather Advisory Service) class graduated June 1972 at the FAA Academy. There were 22 students which would start the service on the west coast at Seattle, Portland, Oakland, and Los Angles. EWAS was later changed to EFAS (En route Flight Advisory Service) in the latter 1970’s.
