Farewell Snow Storm, 1964

Farewell (FWL), Alaska 1964
High winds up to 90 mph raised havoc with Farewell aircraft parked on the airfield.  This Super Cub suffered major damage when the wing was torn off.  FAA housing for FSS and maintenance personnel can be seen in the background. The next night winds flipped this aircraft over on its back.  Blowing snow covered the remaining good wing but a grader operator ran over it.  Owner, Bob Allen, towed what was left of the aircraft to the dump and set it on fire after removing the engine and other items of value.
